Supported chains

BitPay is the world’s leading cryptocurrency payment processor, founded in 2011. It enables merchants to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins, and other cryptocurrencies, with the option to settle directly in fiat currency to their bank account.

How BitPay Works

BitPay provides a hosted payment solution that handles the entire crypto checkout flow. When a customer pays with cryptocurrency, BitPay verifies the payment on the blockchain, absorbs any volatility risk, and settles the equivalent fiat amount to the merchant’s bank account (usually within 1-2 business days). Merchants can also choose to keep a portion or all of their settlement in cryptocurrency.

Key Features

Fee Structure

BitPay uses a tiered pricing model based on monthly transaction volume:

These rates are significantly lower than traditional credit card processing (typically 2.9% + $0.30). Higher fees may apply for high-risk industries.

Supported Cryptocurrencies

BitPay supports 15+ cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, XRP, and major stablecoins (USDC, USDT, GUSD, DAI, PAX, BUSD).

Best For

BitPay is ideal for established merchants who want automatic fiat settlement, full compliance support, and seamless integration with existing e-commerce platforms. It’s particularly popular among large retailers, travel companies, and nonprofits that need KYC-compliant crypto payment processing.
