The Aven Bitcoin Visa Card is a secured credit card designed for long-term Bitcoin holders who want liquidity without selling their assets. Issued by Coastal Community Bank and launched in April 2026, the card allows users to borrow against their Bitcoin holdings through a revolving credit line of up to $1 million. Bitcoin collateral is held by BitGo, a federally regulated digital asset trust bank, separating custody from the card issuer. The card is particularly appealing for those who want to avoid taxable events while accessing everyday spending power.

Rewards

Cardholders earn unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases, which helps offset the net cost of borrowing. The rewards are straightforward and paid in cash, not crypto, making them easy to use for everyday expenses or to pay down the balance.

Borrowing and Rates

Aven offers fixed-rate, fixed-term plans of up to 10 years for cash-outs and balance transfers, a rare feature in the crypto-backed lending space. Rates start at 7.99% APR for borrowers with a 30% loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, and go up to 9.99% APR for 50% LTV and 11.99% APR for 70% LTV. The card also includes an interest-only period of up to 5 years, providing flexibility for cash flow management.

Important Considerations

Because the card is collateralized by Bitcoin, volatility is the biggest risk. If the loan-to-value ratio reaches 70%, the credit line automatically locks. If it hits 85%, Aven will liquidate the collateral, charge a 2% liquidation fee, and close the line. There is also a 1% fee to pull cash from the credit line. Aven does not rehypothecate pledged Bitcoin, which may give holders additional peace of mind about counterparty risk.
