Eligibility and access
The Gemini Card is currently invite-only via waitlist. The Coinbase One Card is available to anyone with a Coinbase One membership. If you need a card today, only the Coinbase option is realistically obtainable.
Card A — Gemini Credit Card
The Gemini Credit Card is a Mastercard issued by WebBank that offers crypto rewards on everyday purchases. Applications are currently invite-only via a waitlist, making it a somewhat exclusive product. The card is designed for users who want to earn Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as cashback without dealing with complex staking or subscription requirements.
Rewards
The card offers a tiered reward structure based on spending categories:
- 4% back on gas, EV charging, and transit (up to $300/month, then 1%)
- 3% back on dining
- 2% back on groceries
- 1% back on all other purchases
Rewards are earned in the user’s choice of cryptocurrency and deposited directly into their Gemini account. This makes it one of the better category-based crypto rewards cards available.
Benefits
- No annual fee.
- No foreign transaction fees.
- World Mastercard benefits including travel protections and concierge services.
- Rewards are available immediately after a transaction posts.
Important Considerations
The card is currently on a waitlist and requires an invite to apply. Users must have a Gemini account to receive rewards. The 4% category on gas and transit is capped at $300 in monthly spend, after which it drops to 1%. The card is available only in the US. As with all crypto rewards cards, the value of earned rewards fluctuates with the market.
Card B — Coinbase One Card
The Coinbase One Card is a credit card on the American Express network, available exclusively to Coinbase One members. It stands out as one of the highest crypto rewards credit cards available in the US, offering up to 4% back in Bitcoin. The card is issued by First Electronic Bank and comes with a metal design etched with text from Bitcoin’s Genesis Block.
Rewards
The card’s reward rate is tiered based on the user’s “Assets on Coinbase” (AOC):
- 2% back for AOC under $10,000
- 2.5% back for AOC between $10,000 and $49,999.99
- 3% back for AOC between $50,000 and $199,999.99
- 4% back for AOC of $200,000 or more
The elevated rates (above 2%) are capped at $10,000 in eligible purchases per calendar month, after which rewards drop to 2%. Rewards are deposited as Bitcoin directly into the user’s Coinbase account.
Coinbase One Membership
A paid Coinbase One subscription is required to hold the card. The basic tier costs $4.99/month or $49.99/year. If the membership lapses, the card account may be closed. Membership benefits include zero trading fees on the first $500 of monthly trades, competitive USDC yield, and $10/month in Base network gas credits.
Benefits
- No annual fee on the card itself and no foreign transaction fees.
- American Express network benefits including purchase protection, extended warranty, travel insurance, and access to Amex Offers and Experiences.
- Rewards settle immediately when a purchase posts.
- Flexible repayment from a linked bank account or crypto held at Coinbase.
Important Considerations
The card is managed entirely within the Coinbase mobile app, with no desktop web access for card features. Some users have reported limited customer support for disputes compared to traditional credit cards. The membership fee acts as an effective annual cost, so users should calculate their break-even based on expected spend and rewards tier.
